Maintenance Performance (Singapore/USA)
A multi-media performance in collaboration with Faith Wilding
2001
This work is about the invisible, oftentimes repetitive, necessary work undertaken by women, fueled by the global economy that demands efficiency and the highest productivity at the lowest possible cost. Labor statistics of women in the workforce in America and Singapore were compared to highlight the increasing number of women contributing to the economy (about 50% in both countries), yet mostly in non-decision making positions (80% - over 90%).

This work was the opening performance for the symposium Women@Work, organised by the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE), held in Singapore to celebrate International Women’s Day, March 2001.
