The work starts with the installation “intact”, with parallel stripes covering the wall, floor and furniture. The performer enters, breaking the silence with her “equipment” and proceeds to “tidy” up the space. At the end, the perfect symmetry of the lines is disrupted and she leaves the room with the lights on.

This work subverts by ironically using an activity associated with orderliness, normally carried out by women, to critique the notion of linking symmetry and orderliness to the ideal. This deliberate attempt at impropriety parallels Daniel Buren’s actions of escaping the museum walls.
